Police arrest fake military personnel in Kano

Police in Kano said they have arrested a suspected fake soldier Abubakar Zailani Ibrahim of Adamawa state who specializes on extorting tricycle operators.
ALL IN ONE reports that the suspect was arrested on November 30 when he arrested a tricycle operator and rook him to Rijiyar Zaki police station.
A statement issued on Monday by the police spokesperson in Kano Abdullahi Kiyawa said, after presenting himself as military personnel at the police station, the suspect claimed that the tricycle operator had run away with his military uniform and other valuables amounting to the sum of one hundred and ninety five thousand Naira.
“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano state command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi instructed the Divisional Police Officer, Rijiyar Zaki Division, CSP Usman Abdullahi to investigate. Preliminary investigation revealed that, the complainant is not a Military personnel and the claim was found to be untrue.
“On discreet investigation, the suspect confessed to have specialized in using the same tactics to extort tricycle operators within Kano metropolis by presenting himself as a military personnel, and that he stole the suspected camouflage uniform from the room of his friend in Dutse, Jigawa state,” Mr Kiyawa said.
Mr Kiyawa added that police have commenced thorough investigation on the matter.
