Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, Chairman Kano State Chapter of the Council of Ulama of Nigeria has called on the Muslim Ummah to modernise the yearly Maulid of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
ALL IN ONE reports that Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil made the call at the celebration of Maulid organised by Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension of Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil.
According to Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, the celebration of Maulud should be conducted in seminar forum where Islamic clerics and knowledgeable Professionals will be engaged in roundtable discussions on issues that would better the lives of the people like how to better Agriculture, proper ways of modern trade and businesses.
He opined that gone are the days where people exhaust their energy talking on the importance of celebrating Maulud, which has been advanced since more than one thousand (1000) years ago and found to be apt.
Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil called on the Muslim Ummah to imbibe the virtues and characters of the Holy Prophet in all their undertakings. He also called on the people to be law abiding and respect establishment.
Other scholars who spoke at the celebration are Malam Sani DZ, Sheikh Muhammad Nafiu Yakasai, Sheikh Abdulyassar Muhammad, Sheikh Askiya Nasiru Kabara.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Musa Alhaji described the presentations by the speakers as well researched, educative and informative.
He prayed that “may all listeners to the presentations use the lessons for the betterment of life.”
