The Kano state government has on Monday announced the revocation of operational license of all private schools in the state.
ALL IN ONE reports that the state commissioner of education Sunusi Kiru announced this on Monday shortly after the arraignment of three suspects accused of kidnapping and killing a five year old pupil Hanifa Abubakar.
He said the ministry of education will set a criteria for their recertification.
The commissioner revealed that the state government has constituted a panel of investigation consist of the ministry of Justice, Department of State Service, (DSS), Civil Defence and other stakeholders for the revalidation of all private schools in Kano State.
Kiru who was accompanied by the state Attorney General during the press conference directed all proprietors of private school to come to the ministry for revalidation of their operational license.
”We are all aware of the ongoing case concerning Hanifa’s death as she was gruesomely murdered by a suspect called Abdulmalik Tanko who is the proprietor of Noble Kids Academy and in view of the sad incidence, especially regarding how she was murdered in the private school, the state government has decided to withdraw the certificate of all private schools for revalidation,” the commissioner said.
Earlier in the day, Police have arraigned three suspects accused of kidnapping and killing a five year old Hanifa Abubakar before Chief Magistrate Court 12 Gidan Murtala.
The three suspects are the principal suspect and the proprietor of Hanifa’s school Abdulmalik Tanko, his friend Tanko Hashim and his girlfriend Fatima Jibreel Musa.
They were charged for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, concealing / Keeping in confinement a kidnapped person and culpable homicide.
The court has adjourned the case to February 2, and remanded the suspects in prison custody.
ALL IN ONE reported how Abdulmalik Tanko, a teacher, allegedly kidnapped and killed his five-year old pupil, Hanifa.
Little Hanifa was Mr Tanko’s pupil at a private school located in Kwanar Dakata in Nassarawa local government area of Kano State.
According to the police, the principal suspect confessed to have poisoned the girl when he realised that she had recognised him.
“Messrs Tanko and (Hashim) Isyaku then buried her remains in a shallow grave at the private school premises at Kwanar ‘Yan Gana, Tudun Murtala Quarters in Nassarawa local government area of Kano State.
